In the recent years, the certification of buildings according to various sustainability systems has been extensively developed in Hellas.
So far, numerous Hellenic buildings have been certified based on WELL, LEED, and BREEAM standards.
The certification levels range from Platinum to Gold, Silver, and “basic Certified”. Attaining these certifications requires meeting specific criteria related to the building's internal environment, including air quality, recycling practices, and materials used. Among these criteria, room acoustics, sound insulation, and soundproofing of buildings and their mechanical systems are also crucial.
The present paper, discusses the acoustic requirements of these sustainability systems and their practical integration into the architectural design process, by providing a theoretical framework followed by an analysis of applied examples from various, related to the subject matter, projects.
